We have been working hard! The class is studying The branches of government, Ecosystems, Westward Expansion, and Geometry. I have sent home passwords to a math website called TenMarks.com. This math website is a good resource for math practice in preparation for the Georgia Milestone. please keep using Istation nightly for reading practice. If you are interested in having extra work for Milestone practice over spring break, please let me know as soon as possible so I can prepare for you. Book fair will be here next week and our day to shop is Monday. As always if you need anything do not hesitate to contact me.
We are getting back into our routine from all the recent days we have had off. Please remember to sign you child's agenda nightly. Although I may not assign any specific reading assignments, the students are suppose to be reading at least 20 minutes nightly,or completing Istation nightly. We have had to review this in class because I can tell that students are not reading nightly. Also, keep practicing math facts as we are starting our unit in fractions and each math skill builds upon each other. In reading we have been reading a book called "Rump". It is a fairy tale story and the children love it. We are finishing up our unit on Sound and light with a test at the end of this week. The students were to bring in a sound making machine and explain it to the class. If this is done, they will receive and extra 5 points on their science test. The students are also writing an opinion piece about why recess is good for you. I am excited to see their thoughts and opinions. As always, if you have any questions or want to request a conference, you can email me at any time. Have a great week. The magic word for this week is GOLD. ( The students knows what this means) If they read this blog, and tell me the magic word, they get a reward coupon.
Welcome back! I hope everyone had a relaxing break. Our field trip to the Safety Village is on the 12th so please be sure you have signed and turned in two permission slips. Also the fourth grade performance is this month, more information to follow. Report cards will be going home on Friday this week. I have asked the students to restock their pencil boxes and if they mention this post, they will get a treasure box visit. We will begin the New Year by learning about sound and light in science and will begin our unit of fractions in math. please keep practicing your math facts nightly. I will be also sending home a new reading log ( Istation does count as a reading assignment) with the homework assignments due on Friday. Stay tuned for more information and keep checking the blog.
